Idol Time writer Ken Burke's first book is a trilogy that starts with 'The House' chapters telling a ghost story based on actual events, the weirdest of which was that three people who never met had the exact same dream while sleeping in the same room. 'The Letters' chapters tell the love story about college students caught in a wartime triangle, and 'The Sins' chapters explains how the lovers became the ghosts. Ken's second novel takes the main 'Sheol' characters, clairvoyants Ayden and Martha, to the Pacific to get to the bottom of a mystery. American intelligence is tracking reports of ghost ships that coincide with chatter about pending invasion of islands that were then an American Trust Territory. The Russians, the Chinese, the North Koreans, and/or a few others may be smuggling chemical or nuclear weapons onto the islands to wrest control of these strategic jewels as the islands transition to independence and government. Ken has had a kind of 'Forrest Gump' life, living right in or very near some of the most significant events of the second half of the 20th century and start of the 21st. He lived places that were right in the middle of the last stand of segregation, the Cuban Missile crisis, the Berlin Wall, 9/11, Russian detente, and recent plagues. He sprinkles his stories about these heavy experiences with light and usually comedic observations about his family and friends. Scheduled for publication in 2026.
